Have you noticed what happens when you are emotional and what it does to the options you have?

There are a limited amount of choices because your brain is designed to look for the best out of everything.

The mind and the emotions will change depending on what you are doing. This can create problems for anyone who doesn’t have control over their feelings and moods.

There is a huge difference between knowing what emotions you experience and understanding why they show up when they do.

For instance, have you ever heard of a mood ring?

This was a toy ring that people would get and it claimed to show you what kind of a mood you are in during the day. But the reality is you don’t need a gimmicky toy to do that.

You learn how to control your moods when you understand more about your mind and your emotions. The mood ring was just a random guess about how you might be feeling.

And it didn’t work because I had one in the first or second grade, I remember it showing me everything but the actual mood I was in most of the time.

That is the case with most people, they think they understand somebody else’s mood but are only just guessing because they don’t understand how the mind works and communicates.

What this article is going to show you is how to change your mood by changing your thoughts. Also why you have certain emotions and the reason you may experience one far more than others.

Close to the end, I will explain how you can become a much better thinker and to be in control so that you don’t overreact to things the way your emotions can lead you to do.

Each emotion is communicated for a reason…

To keep things as simple as possible you will learn about the basic emotions here, that means there isn’t going to be a hundred listed, only the five that matter so that you can understand.

Those emotions are joy, anger, fear, sadness, and depression. 

In other words, you will be either happy, mad, sad, afraid, or depressed. At any time you can also include confused since it’s an add-on with those five.

It’s not productive to cover the many forms of happiness, like elated, surprised, intrigued, amazed, or any of the others.

To understand the reasons that you’re happy is to know what you want and how to get it. Then it’s just a matter of working toward getting what you want. 

It’s also possible to be happy and frustrated at the same time because you are moving forward but learning by mistakes.

Anger happens when you are kept from gaining the things that you want. 

For example, somebody steals your idea and you react by wanting to kill them for it. Shortly after that, you start to slip into sadness because now you lost an opportunity to achieve a goal of yours.

As you experience different activities, situations, and thoughts… You will receive new communications from the subconscious mind.

This means that your mind is controlling what it shows you because it wants to eliminate the need for many choices that hold you back.

When the emotion changes it means your mind is telling you to choose between the options you have. You could cry, you could kill that other person, or you can let it go and move forward.

What you need to learn is that this is both a good and a bad thing. There will be many situations where your mind isn’t helping you if you are in a depressed or frightened state.

Fear, stress, worry, panic, anxiety, and depression all come with two options… Runaway and hide or stick around and fight… The reason you have no other options comes from the chemicals that your brain released.

Adrenaline will confuse when you attempt to use logic… It obstructs the path for energy to continue to be used by the mind and is directed for use with your body.

Here is the point of learning this stuff, you will be able to control things when you can shift your mood to a relaxed state. This works because it’s the sweet spot that gives you everything you need to take action.

Not only does it keep your negative thoughts at bay but it gives you a chance to think as rational and logical as you know it takes to make the best decisions.

Relaxation removes the control your mind has over you because it’s in a position where it’s not needed. 

This is why it’s very important to practice meditation, mindfulness, hypnosis, and anything else that will remove the emotional headaches you have when your subconscious mind is trying to assist you 24/7.

The reason you have emotions is for you to make easier decisions based on what your mind already understands. It can be a blessing when you want motivation, it can be a curse when you want to just be happy.

It’s also why you experience ever-changing moods when you are doing different things all day long. The cause of your emotions is your mind attempting to help you out and when it’s not sure what you are trying to get done, you feel indifferent.

  • Happy means you are moving in the right direction as far as your mind believes.
  • Sad means you are moving in a direction away from what your mind believes.
  • Anger means you are being prevented from moving in the direction the mind believes.
  • Fear means you are unsure of which direction things are going and it’s potentially dangerous.
  • Depression is when you are far away and going in a direction that makes it impossible to get closer to your goals.
  • Indifference is when you are uncertain what you want or how to get moving in any direction.

Keep in mind these are the very basic explanations and are going to help you with tracking your moods. They are not the full set of explanations that you will be figuring out yourself as you journal and learn about yourself.

How to track your emotions and grow?

Knowing more about yourself is a huge step to take in getting the things your life is missing. That means your mind will require things that you didn’t experience as a child.

Now is the time to know why because to figure yourself out you need to learn about your mind. Think of yourself as a tree, you have roots, trunk, branches, and leaves. Some will have fruit or whatever else but that’s not in this example.

Your mind is made up of the roots which support the entire tree. 

They aren’t the only thing that keeps the tree alive because it’s a system. The roots do a lot because they act as your foundation that gives you the direction to move forward with.

When you have fewer roots set up, the tree will be limited to what it can do. This means it’s potential is very small compared to what it can become if it can establish those necessary roots sometime in the future.

You gain the roots as a child early on from birth to around the age of 7. 

What you gain is completely up to who you spend time with. Think of someone you know who seems to have a perfect life.

Why do you believe that they are as capable as they are? Well, its from their early development which taught them how to pursue their needs, desires, and wants.

To become the best tree possible, you need to have quality role models teaching you around the clock. For anyone who comes from a situation that this wasn’t possible, there will be gaps.

For some of us, we didn’t get the chance to set up all of our roots. Those that are missing sit empty with a feeling that it’s there.

As a result of missing a few or more roots, your mind requires things that are called psychological needs or unmet needs. 

These are the things you desire but may not be aware of which influence the moods you have because you will not be complete or happy without them.

Knowing the emotions allows you to know what your mood means and this is communicated to you so you can find the missing things you value in life.

That is one way to look at your unmet needs… This next one shows you that those gaps have been filled in with the wrong information.

Each role model that you learn from has a belief system that holds their behavior. Whenever they explain something to you… it’s going to have errors in it.

So, instead of you learning the correct information, you have a gap with an issue. If you think about those gaps like teeth… You would have a crooked tooth.

Along the way you pick up those false beliefs, you listen to people who are not smart, and you start caring about things you don’t need. 

These are the gaps you will be notified by your mind that need to be changed to get you going on a better journey.

Sometime you will feel unhappy because the wrong people are telling you lies, other times you will be depressed because you believe their lies, and then there are times when you are uncertain what is the truth or not and that messes you up.

Whenever you compare what you know with that of another person… You will notice a difference. 

This still may not help because their information could also be incorrect. That type of event will fool you into believing that you have solved a problem when it’s untrue.

This is where it gets complicated because during your lifetime you will build up a belief system that has some truths and some lies. You will also believe things about yourself that are harmful and not helpful.

You will be in a toxic family, have friends who are toxic or become that way yourself because emotions are contagious. When you learn to undo the damage that has built you into this mess or whatever you think.

It’s when you start to understand just how brilliant it is to develop the best belief system to guide your life. 

When you can see yourself in a way that only you can, it will open your mind to be capable of learning what will transform a mess to a superhuman possible.

Why Should You Journal Often?

The idea is very simple because you need to develop a list so that you can look at it every day you live. This list is your instructions for the best version of you possible.

That means you will need these instructions to be the most valuable asset you build and also be the most viewed piece of information you have to reflect on at any time thereafter.

I can suggest that you write about your emotions, feelings, moods, behavior, wants, desires, dreams, family, friends, ideas, thoughts, wisdom, skills, likes, and dislikes a billion times.

But you need to get that it’s the essential piece of the puzzle you have to have to finish the game of life. When you want something you have to understand the reason why, or else you will not be capable of getting it.

That is the simplicity of what I am teaching you to do here. What is the number one thing you need to start doing before anything you want becomes possible?

A journal.

What is the number one thing that most people don’t keep who will not become successful in their game of life?

A journal.

And the part that prevents most people from doing it? They are too afraid to learn the truth about who they are and what they can become. They are known as cowards.

Courage is not an emotion…

It’s the one thing besides knowledge you need to possess in your life to make the decisions required to meet the unmet goals you have. The fears that go along with your knowledge are just lies that came from your refusal to learn the truth.

When you learn the real meaning of life it will hit you like a ton of bricks, but you need to do the work to figure it out. Most people wouldn’t believe the answer if it was written in bold letters and colored bright red.

I hope this has given you a lot to think about and will help you to figure out what to start doing to make your life better. The mind and the emotions are there for you to benefit from.

  1. That’s kind of funny you mention too many distractions and so little time to meditate. That is really the point of starting a routine where you schedule a ten-minute session. I started because I wanted to gain more focus and to ease all the constant thoughts that were consuming my mind. Not having any other plans but to try it out for a month and see what I thought afterward. Before I knew it 90 days passed by and I still felt like it was helping me relax and gain more clarity about who I was. So I continued to do it not always looking forward to the time because there were still things on my mind that needed my attention as well. But time and time again I continued to sit there in quiet and let my body relax as I focused on my breathing. Each time I felt better and less overwhelmed than before I started. So I continue to do it and it’s been 7 months now but I also started using Zen 12 Meditations which is only a 12-minute session. In any case, when you want to do something schedule it and then make no excuses to avoid it. Before you know it, you will be able to relax and even wish you had more free time to do it more often.

  2. The mind is a powerful thing indeed. Sometimes I try to tell myself that I need to change or control my current emotions, yet my mind is putting up quite a struggle to keep these emotions. I guess it is a matter of learning how to control thoughts and what we are thinking. I can see where meditation would help with all of this. More and more I see meditation as an excellent tool to use. I have yet to be able to fully be able to meditate. But I think it is just that I want to do it in so little time, or that I have way too many distractions.
