important things.

Allow me to share a short story about why this part matters. A while back, I came to a decision that something needed to be changed in my life.

I had no clue where to start or what skills I could use.

Money was a big issue because I could only afford to do things on a strict budget.

So, I began like most people do by searching the internet for ways to make money online.

Shortly after I found a program which allowed me to start a website without requiring me to pay anything up front.

Once I was inside and had completed the first course, I had successfully built my very first website and was swept up by everything that it provided for me.

Having searched around for a program that trains, provides free tools, has lot’s of experienced members who all make a living doing what was being taught, I was blown away.

However, there was still a lingering question that I couldn’t answer.

What are you passionate about?

My very first website was based on interest and not a passion. It turned out to be much harder than expected because I got bored and that taught me to keep digging deeper.

Well, looking back now am I ever glad that I was able to adapt and learn to be persistent. Shortly after struggling I was capable of getting closer to my passion.

One search after another, I was right on top of it but still missing confirmation.

The answer that I found was even more confusing at first, it told me that passion is something already inside of each of us.

We will need to seek it out from trying lot’s of things before our search results in being able to track it down.

Once I knew that I was after only one main thing, I had to learn to be patient for it to show up.

Why does that matter in finding a passion? Because it is a part we continue to learn from and by seeing ourselves as we are,  it will become obvious sooner or later.

I also had to accept that I didn’t need to think, believe, value, or go along with what anyone else said or did.

The people we let into our lives are either going to respect us and help us or ignore us and not care about us.

The scariest thing for me is to work my butt off and make all the necessary changes so that I become what I envision myself becoming. And then have somebody else criticize my beliefs.image saying "Passion is something already inside of each of us"

After a series of questions, the frustrating part still meant I had to identify what values I had and which ones I didn’t know I should have.

So that I understand everything about me and this way I only let those people into my life who have similar values.

The very same thing is true for beliefs and it is without a doubt more difficult to find people you will connect with if you don’t understand what these things are.

This is a List of Values

List Of Values And Beliefs

Before we get into the list, let us all think about what we would name as our top 5 values.

Perhaps you value knowledge and understanding of the world in which we live? This will be important for you moving forward with new ideas.

Wealth is another value and comes with a desire to accumulate massive amounts of possessions or resources that are worth a lot.

Friendship is a value and many people live their lives entirely for other people. The same thing applies to family, we don’t realize how much value our family really means until we lose it.image saying "frustrating part is having to identify which values I have"

Based on those kinds of things, we can kinda guess what value is. They are what we actually cherish and what we focus our energy on protecting or accumulating more of.

Things like family, we wish to keep them safe, keep them fed, or clothed, or if they are children we want them to learn and have fun also to have everything and more we may have missed out on.

This means we already have a pretty good understanding of what kinds of values are worth our effort and energy. But, it’s very important to make this a statement so that you remember to be grateful at the same time.

Having to not worry about family or friends is a value that means a great deal to some. They make that their life mission to be a provider and are passionate to do everything possible for them.image saying "Value is something we cherish and focus energy protecting"

  • Good manners

And on and on. So anything could potentially be a value to a person because these are general in nature. You may value being a follower in Christ, or value being brutally honest with people.

The point I wanted to make is that you should go through everything you think is a value to you and write those down because they will explain a lot about why you behave and act in certain ways.image saying "anything could potentially be a value"

And if you are struggling to understand what values you have, simply write down in a journal about what you do each day, what you like and don’t like and then when you have done enough of these you can look and see if anything repeats.

For things that often repeat, we notice it as a pattern and then it’s likely that we value something related to that area.

This is a List of Beliefs

Now that we understand what values are, how do we find our beliefs?

First, a belief is something that people will insist to be right or wrong no matter what somebody else tells them. This is something they know to be valid without any facts to back it up.image saying "The point is to write down your important values"

For this reason, people like you or me will have very important beliefs and then some that just don’t make any sense to keep. These have probably served a purpose at one time and now just don’t really mean anything to us.

Here is a list of beliefs

  • I believe in myself
  • I am unstoppable
  • I am human
  • I am a fun decent guy
  • You are gonna like meList Of Values And Beliefs
  • I will be rich someday
  • I can change the world
  • I am capable of doing many things well
  • I enjoy being around other people
  • I don’t like strange animals
  • Blue Cheese Is Gross
  • Work is for suckers, having a business is how to find happiness
  • People who walk and text are idiots.
  • Pig farms smell terrible
  • Money is meant to be spent
  • Dogs are smarter than cats
  • Money should be celebrated and spread around
  • Zoos are humane ways to show off animals
  • People who are famous act snobbish
  • Society is against the poor
  • Crazy people belong in jail
  • Robots will destroy humanity

This is a simple list of things that most people could agree or disagree about, and it makes no difference what so ever for the human race to continue(except the robot one).

They are simply something that somebody believes.

Keep in mind these could go on until the sun comes up and goes back down again. There is no minimum or a maximum number of beliefs that anyone could have.

There are however core beliefs that consist of the most important ones. The same thing applies to core values and knowing both of these will help us to get to know who we really are and how we can move in a positive direction.

One important tip is to think about beliefs like a library, you can always add more books. Eventually, there will be some books that nobody reads or needs anymore.image saying "a belief is something we insist to be right or wrong"

This will move some to the archives and others will just be trashed. As our minds grow it’s the same thing, we will want to keep the best beliefs and remove the ones that no longer serve us.

The next step is to write down our lists of core values and core beliefs

Take some time and ask yourself a few in-depth questions about what you want outta life. Is family really the most important thing to you or does your career matter more?

Does living a luxury life mean more to you then to give back to other people who are suffering? All of this will be different for each person because nobody has to believe or value the same things.

The only time it actually makes sense to believe what somebody else does, is when you think about morals, ethics or laws.image saying "believing in the same things are important for morals, ethics and laws"

But the key thing to realize is that this will help to get you focused on the most important actions that you will need to take going forward.

Example – if a teacher understands their students’ needs they know exactly what matters and what to teach. If that teacher is just guessing then it will likely be boring and go right over the students’ heads.

Information that isn’t passed on in the most effective ways, will just be wasted energy and cause confusion. To ensure that you learn in an effective manner, you will need a way to keep it organized and planned out.

The best place I recommend to keep track of everything you learn about yourself is either in a journal or by creating your very own blog like mine.

And if you are ready to really get things going as smoothly as possible, then you should bookmark this site and continue to come here often to read about the most important things you should be learning.

  1. The purpose of the article is to become aware of them so that you can create your own list of core values and core beliefs. I found that to be very useful as I explored what it means to love yourself. Also, self-compassion is only possible once you understand where your core is and start to work on the limiting beliefs that are holding you back from truly feeling valuable.

I appreciate you for that comment and would love to hear from you about other topics as well.

  2. Hi Eric, interesting post. Most of the time we realize our values and beliefs in situations where we actually needed to choose between circumstances that choosing one over the other will mean sacrificing them. You were right, becoming conscious about them will give us the opportunity to understand ourselves and know how we want to move in life going forward. Thank you for sharing.
